# Permit Lifecycle

> Track your facility license through every stage from draft to renewal.

## Overview

The permit lifecycle tracker follows your facility license through nine states: **Draft → Submitted → Under Review → Issued → Suspended → Revoked → Appealed → Closed**, plus a **Renewed** path. Every status change is logged with a timestamp, the user who made the change, and an optional reason.

## Permit states

| Status | Meaning |
| ------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| Draft | Permit application prepared but not yet submitted |
| Submitted | Application sent to the licensing authority |
| Under Review | Authority is actively reviewing the application |
| Issued | License is active and in good standing |
| Suspended | License temporarily suspended; operations may be restricted |
| Revoked | License revoked; facility must cease operations or appeal |
| Appealed | Revocation or suspension is under appeal |
| Closed | Permit voluntarily closed or expired without renewal |

## Viewing the status timeline

Open any permit in **Compliance → Documents & Permits** and click the permit row to expand the **Status Timeline** panel. The timeline shows every transition with date, reason, and the staff member who recorded it.

## Recording a status change

1. Open the permit detail view.
2. Click **Update Status**.
3. Select the new status from the dropdown.
4. Enter an optional reason (required for Suspended or Revoked).
5. Set the effective date.
6. Click **Save**.

## Change-of-information notices

When material information about your facility changes (ownership, operator, location, services offered, or licensed capacity), you must notify the licensing authority within a required window. ImaraCare tracks these automatically:

1. Click **Log Change Notice** on any active permit.
2. Select the change type and describe it.
3. The system calculates the **notice deadline** based on your jurisdiction profile.
4. Once you submit the notice to the authority, click **Mark Submitted** to record the date.

Overdue change notices appear highlighted in red on the permit detail and trigger a dashboard alert.

## Permit non-transferability

Boarding home licenses are non-transferable. ImaraCare records the **original owner** on each permit and will flag attempts to transfer ownership without first obtaining a new license.
