# Reinspections

> Manage reinspection workflows, access logging, and fee tracking after a failed inspection.

## Overview

When an inspection results in a **failed** outcome, ImaraCare automatically schedules a reinspection and links it to the original inspection. Each reinspection has its own due date, fee, and outcome record.

## How reinspections are scheduled

When you save an inspection with a **Failed** result, the system:

1. Creates a new inspection record linked to the original as its **parent**.
2. Sets the reinspection due date to 30 days after the failed inspection date.
3. Assigns the applicable reinspection fee (based on your jurisdiction profile).
4. Sets the status to **Scheduled**.

You will see the reinspection as an indented row under the original inspection in the Inspections list.

## Recording access for a reinspection

Before or during a reinspection, log whether the inspector was granted access:

1. Open the reinspection record.
2. Under **Access**, select **Access Granted** or **Log Access Refusal**.
3. If refused, enter the reason for refusal.

<Warning>
  Refusing an inspector access without a valid legal basis can result in automatic escalation to the licensing authority. ImaraCare records refusals with a timestamp and triggers a notification to facility management.
</Warning>

## Fee tracking

Reinspection fees accrue with each additional reinspection on the same root violation. The fee stack is visible on each reinspection row:

* **Reinspection 1:** base fee (e.g., \$150)
* **Reinspection 2:** cumulative fee (e.g., \$300)
* **Reinspection 3+:** cumulative fee continues to increase

Contact your licensing authority for the exact fee schedule in your jurisdiction.

## Clearing a reinspection

Once the reinspection is completed with a **Passed** result, update the status to **Passed** and enter any notes. The parent inspection chain is then marked as resolved.
