# Multi-facility access

> Switch between facilities when you belong to more than one, and how roles differ per facility.

Some users work at more than one licensed facility. ImaraCare keeps a **separate role and data scope** for each facility.

## Key concepts

| Term                  | Meaning                                                                |
| --------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Membership**        | Your link to a facility with a role (Staff, Manager, or Administrator) |
| **Active facility**   | The facility whose data you are viewing right now                      |
| **Facility selector** | Control in the sidebar to change active facility                       |

<Warning>
  There is **no global role**. You might be Staff at Facility A and Administrator at Facility B. Always check the facility name in the sidebar before making changes.

## Switch facilities

  <Step title="Open the facility selector">
    At the top of the sidebar, click the current facility name.

  <Step title="Choose another facility">
    Select the facility you want to work in. You only see facilities where you have an active membership.

  <Step title="Wait for reload">
    The app switches context and reloads the dashboard. Navigation updates to match your role at that facility.

## What changes when you switch

* Sidebar pages and quick actions
* Residents, staff, and compliance data
* Your effective role for new actions (recorded in activity logs)

## Access removed from one facility

If you are removed from a single facility but still belong to others:

* You are switched to another active facility automatically when possible
* You see a notice that access to the previous facility ended

If you lose access to **all** facilities, you are signed out and see [Access ended](/account/access-ended).

## Administrators managing multiple sites

Regional operators often hold Administrator at several facilities. Complete setup (team invites, subscription, Stripe) **per facility** — billing and Stripe Connect are not shared across facilities automatically.
