Overview

Boarding homes provide supervision and assistance with self-administered medications — they do not provide personal care (bathing, dressing, eating, or mobility assistance). When a resident’s needs escalate beyond this scope, designated escalation contacts must be notified immediately. ImaraCare lets you configure a list of escalation contacts per facility and automatically flags which ones to notify when a care-level mismatch or self-neglect situation is identified.

Adding an escalation contact

  1. Go to Compliance → Assessments and open the Escalation Contacts tab.
  2. Click Add Contact.
  3. Select the contact’s role: Guardian, Family Contact, DFPS, Health Authority, Regulatory Hotline, or Other.
  4. Enter name, phone, and email.
  5. Choose which events trigger notification:
    • Notify when personal care flag is set — recommended for guardians and health authorities
    • Notify when self-neglect flag is set — recommended for DFPS and regulatory contacts
  6. Click Add Contact.

Editing or removing contacts

Click Edit or Remove next to any contact in the list. Removed contacts are deactivated (not deleted) so their historical record is preserved.

When escalation contacts are notified

ImaraCare records a notification for each relevant escalation contact whenever:
  • A resident assessment sets the personal care flag (indicating the resident now needs personal care beyond the facility’s permitted scope)
  • A self-neglect flag is set on a resident assessment
Notifications appear in ImaraCare’s notification center and, if email is configured, are sent by email.
Timely notification of guardians and relevant authorities is a licensing requirement. Ensure escalation contacts are kept up to date and reviewed at least quarterly.
